After Casablanca, Rabat, and Marrakech, the city of Fez or Fes is the fourth largest of Morocco.  It is also the capital of the Fès-Boulemane Region and is counted among the four "imperial cities" which include Marrakech, Meknes and Rabat. 2. Geography and climate 
Fes or Fez has a temperate type of climate with summers being very hot hot and dry. The winters on the other hand are bearable but the night temperature could get very low.

The city is separated into three parts which are Fes el Bali (the old, walled city), Fes-Jdid (new Fes, home of the Mellah), and the Ville Nouvelle (the French-created, newest section of Fes).
