Croatia

With its long Adriatic coast, Croatia is one of the most beautiful parts of Europe. Huge number of  visitors come here every year to get a taste of its coastal and island resorts. Croatia, which serves as a gateway to eastern Europe is located between central and eastern Europe. It is situated along the east coast of the Adriatic Sea and is bordered by Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary and Slovenia. It has a diverse terrain with rocky coastlines, plains, lakes, sprawling hills and densely populated mountains. Croatia enjoys a wide variety of climates. While in the north it is continental, one gets to enjoy a Mediterranean climate along the coast and a semi-highland and highland climate in the central region.

North Americans, Australians and many other nationals can travel Croatia only with a valid passport. There is no need of a visa. All the major cities of Croatia are connected with rest of the world with air. There is a very comprehensive coach network that connects all parts of the country. Bus service between major cities is very good and the easiest way to travel around the country. While Zagreb is the capital and largest city, other cities are Dubrovnik, Split, Pula, Osijek, Porec,  Rijeka, Sibenik, Makarska, Varazdin, Vukovar and Zadar.

The country has six World Heritage sites, such as Historical Complex of Split with the Palace of Diocletian, Old City of Dubrovnik, Plitvice National Park, Episcopal Complex of the Euphrasian Basilica in the Historic Centre of Porec,  Historic City of Trogir and the Cathedral of St James in Sibenik. Apart from these, there are eight national parks and 1,185 islands to attract tourists from across the globe. There is also a long artistic, literary and musical tradition of the land to explore. Amongst other places interest is the diverse and ethnic nature of Croatian cuisine, which is already famous in other countries also.
