2. Geography and climate 
Beijing has mountains towards the norther region. China's agricultural areas are barred from the desert steppes by the northwest and west. Beijing experiences a monsoon-influenced humid continental climate. In autumn, as the people of Beijing call 'tiangao qishuang' (meaning 'the sky is high and the air is fresh') is the time to visit.

Beijing is divided into 16 districts and 2 counties of which are: Dongcheng District; Xicheng District; Chongwen District; Xuanwu District; Chaoyang District; Haidian District; Fengtai District; Shijingshan District; Mentougou District; Fangshan District; Tongzhou District; Shunyi District; Changping District; Daxing District; Pinggu District; Huairou District; Yanqing County and Miyun County.
4. Air Travel 
Beijing Capital International Airport aka Běijīng Shoudū Guójì Jīcháng, is the main airport located to the northeast of the central districts, 26km from the city centre. Currently, speedy renovations are taking place to welcome all the visitors of the 2008 Olympics. Another airport, Nanyuan Airport aka Nányuàn Jīchang, is located 17 km south of Beijing.
5. Society and culture 
The majority of the population of Beijing consists of 95.69% Han Chinese, followed by Manchu, Hui, Mongol, Korean,Tujia, Zhuang, Miao, Uyghur and Tibetan. Recent years have shown a major influx of South Koreans who are here for business.
